Saclà and the Rugby Football Union

Saclà UK is celebrating the successful completion of the first year of its ground breaking partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

The first year of the Saclà Rugby Festivals programme, which ran from February to June 2010, saw Saclà support over 100 local rugby festivals nationwide, reaching over 50,000 budding young rugby players. The series of festivals culminated with over 130 of the next generation of rugby stars coming to Twickenham to experience a once in a lifetime exclusive rugby coaching session with former England captain, Lawrence Dallaglio.

Fabrizio Macchi

Sponsorship has become not only a way to stimulate and develop a sports reality for Saclà, but also a way to support an important social project.

The Asti-based company also encourages the passion for sport and the invincible winning spirit of the young cyclist Fabrizio Macchi, a disabled athlete from Varese who was affected by a tumour as a teenager, leaving him without a leg. The support of Fabrizio Macchi's career, already marked by success and victories, intends to be a message to promote social issues, as an ideal continuation of the passion that the Ercole family have for sport which they consider to be an opportunity for growth and participation.

Fabrizio Macchi is a modern day hero - his story is captivating and indeed miraculous. Champion of his sport, for which he lives and dedicates as much energy as his love of many aspects of his life.

At the age of 16 he had a life changing experience due to a tumour which led to the loss of a leg. This handicap was the start of challenges ahead which he tackled continuously with enthusiasm and passion.

He has been dedicated to cycling for 17 years whilst maintaining a career as a physiotherapist as well as giving social support to the disabled.

Saclà has been sponsoring Macchi throughout his cycling passion since 2004 and his disability has neither tainted his success nor his performance. To date his winnings and performance have been unrelenting even against renowned top cyclists. (see notes to editors below).

Saclà has been the sponsor of the Italian-Belgian professional cycling team Colnago Landbouwkrediet throughout 2003, supporting a sport where sacrifice and willpower enable young people to obtain remarkable athletic achievements.

The company's great passion for sports and positive spirit have lead us to tie our name to that of the higly adrenalinic and fascinating sport which is motor-racing and to support the races of a great champ, from Asti: Dindo Capello.
